The book

About this edition

A complete 1 Enoch in one hardcover, set from the translation scholars have cited for a hundred years — built to be read, not archived.

What the book is

The Book of Enoch is quoted in the New Testament — Jude quotes it by name — and it echoes across the gospels, the letters of Paul and the Revelation. Yet within a few centuries of the canon being fixed, it was gone from Western Bibles. It survived in full only in the Ethiopian Orthodox canon, in Ge'ez manuscripts, until fragments of an older Aramaic version turned up among the Dead Sea Scrolls and confirmed its antiquity.

This edition puts the complete text back in the hands of an ordinary reader: all five books of 1 Enoch, all 108 chapters, in one volume.

The translation

This edition uses the R. H. Charles translation of 1917 — still the version scholars read and cite — lightly modernised for a reader in 2026, with chapter and verse numbering kept throughout so you can check any passage against any other edition.
